NRA Basic Instructor Training Course (BIT)
June 1 • 10:00 am - 9:00 pm
The NRA Basic Instructor Training Course (BIT for short) is an 8 hour objective based Instructor Prerequisite Course that teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to teach any of the NRA’s instructor certification disciplines. The BIT is not a discipline in itself but rather a teaching methodology that is applied to any skill or discipline you want to teach: Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Personal Protection in the Home, Personal Protection Outside the Home, Home Firearm Safety, Range Safety Officer, and Defensive Pistol. This is the core class that teaches how to understand lesson plans, how to teach a discipline, and how to ensure 100% consistency across the board when teaching an NRA course.
The NRA BIT course is valid for a two (2) year period. If you have attended a BIT within the last two (2) years, you are considered to be a active instructor who is up-to-date with the NRA’s methodology for teaching, and may take additional NRA Instructor disciplines. If your last BIT course is over two (2) years old, you must attend a current BIT course prior to taking a new instructor discipline.
This is very important – If you do not have a current NRA BIT, the NRA will not recognize the discipline course you have signed up to attend. You must bring your NRA Instructor Certification Card to class so we may validate you are holding a current BIT as a prerequisite. If you cannot provide current credentials we will have no other option than to ask you to retake the BIT BEFORE attending the Instructor Course. There are NO exceptions as per NRA policy.
*It is highly recommened that Instructor Candidates be a member of the National Rifle Association prior to attending their NRA Instructor course. If you are not currently a member, please (Click Here) to join at a course discount.
