This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting. This course is at least 8 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the benchrest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate.
This class is limited to rimfire .22 caliber rifles only. Due to facility restrictions, we will teach the bench and standing positions and demo/illustrate prone, kneeling, and sitting positions. However, prone, kneeling and sitting positions will not be practiced on the range with live fire.
Dummy and Live ammo (at least 50 rounds of live ammo per student, may be purchased in-store)

You are required to give a 48-hour notice if you are unable to attend the course for which you have registered. If you fail to give this notice, you will be charged a $25 cancellation/rescheduling fee.
If you need to reschedule your course, this also must be done with a minimum of 48 hours’ notice to avoid the cancellation/rescheduling fee.
